Advancement is one of the core Methods of Scouting. The Scouting program is structured around advancement, giving Scout every opportunity to advance. That said, a significant difference between Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts is that the Scout must not only take advantage of opportunities provided by the program but he must make his own opportunities where necessary to complete his advancement goals. Ultimately, a Scout's pace towards advancement levels is his own responsibility.
The Scout Badge is the first rank in Boy Scouts . The new Scout is assisted through the requirements for the Scout Badge as he meets the Troop and is introduced to the Scouting.
The ranks can be discussed into two groups - the Road to 1st Class and the Road to Eagle.
